CICADA designed a residence in Old Metairie, Louisiana for a retired couple moving into their forever home. The client’s main programmatic priorities on this 4-bed, 5-bath were to have a home perfect for hosting friends and family, and to design the home around the rear yard and pool. Each main entertainment space has a direct, yet separate sightline to the backyard. The most intimate of these spaces is the primary bedroom, which is set in its own private wing.

The ground floor includes the primary bedroom and bathroom, as well as a guest bedroom and bath. On the second floor are two additional bedrooms, a workout room, a play area for grandkids, and a walk-in, air-conditioned attic space for easy storage. The style of the home was designed as a mix between French and traditional architecture. The front façade boasts steep, vaulted roofs. Half-round arches that break the eaves provide an elegant façade. The exterior is composed mainly of Old Chicago brick, with a complimentary smooth limewash stucco finish.
