BOURGEOIS RESIDENCE // BATON ROUGE, LOUISIANA
Bourgeois Residence sits under a canopy of 200 year old oak trees just off Highland Road in Baton Rouge, a new construction home designed in a traditional vernacular for a young and growing family. At 6,500 square feet, with six bedrooms, six bathrooms, and a three car garage, the house was planned to give the family room to grow while still feeling like a home built for daily life.
The approach sets the tone for everything that follows. The drive runs beneath the old oaks lining the property, past an ornate wrought iron fence and through a two panel swing gate framed by brick pillars. A generous roundabout leads to private access for the three car garage on the left side of the home, with a state of the art gym positioned above it, making full use of space that might otherwise go unnoticed.
CICADA worked closely with the interior designer throughout the process to ensure every detail reflected the owners' vision, a blend of traditional and transitional European style, with a touch of modern restraint and a warmth that keeps the home feeling soft and welcoming rather than formal.
The kitchen anchors the home, designed to be multifunctional with a large center island that opens to views of both the front and rear yards. Marble surrounds the range as the room's focal point, and just beyond it, the wet bar introduces wood tones that add warmth and elevate the space further.
Vaulted ceilings climbing to twenty feet, framed by exposed wood beams, carry through much of the home as a recurring architectural theme. The children's playroom balances a sense of play with the same refinement found throughout the rest of the house, and the primary bedroom was designed as a place of quiet retreat, with natural light brought carefully into the room.
