Connor Martinez, a seasoned home brewer with a passion for crafting unique flavors, had long dreamed of opening his own microbrewery. When he stumbled upon the historic praline shop on St. Charles, he saw an opportunity to bring his vision to life.

CICADA's design approach focused on preserving the building's historic character while incorporating modern elements to create a welcoming and functional space. To help offset the costs of the renovation, Connor pursued historic tax credits, a strategic move that allowed him to invest more in the brewery's interior and amenities.

Inside, the brewery was designed to be open and inviting, with exposed tongue and groove wood walls, high ceilings, and ample natural light. The centerpiece of the space was the brewing equipment, which was strategically placed so that visitors could witness the magic of the brewing process firsthand. The bar, detailed out of copper, was positioned directly in front of the tanks, allowing patrons to engage with the brewers and learn about the craft beer-making process.

To complement the beer offerings, the brewery included a small kitchen where Connor could prepare delicious pizzas and other small bites to pair with his brews. The kitchen was designed to be efficient and functional, while also adding a touch of warmth and homeliness to the space.

The name "Care Forgot" is a nod to New Orleans' rich history and the city's carefree spirit. The phrase is taken from a popular song written in the early 1900s, "Care Forgot," which celebrates the joy of letting go of life's worries and embracing the moment.

This choice of name reflects the brewery's aim to create a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere where patrons can escape the stresses of everyday life and simply enjoy good beer and good company. It also pays homage to the city's vibrant culture and the carefree attitude that has long defined New Orleans.
