The transformation of the historic Green House Inn, dating back to the 1860s and soon to reopen as a refurbished Bed & Breakfast, is a brilliant synthesis of historical preservation and cutting-edge technology. The façade, once boxed in and hidden, has been meticulously restored to its original glory, featuring full-height sliphead windows, droplap siding, decorated entablatures, and molded coins. The discovery of 14' arched thresholds, buried beneath layers of drop ceilings, became a pivotal moment in this renovation, uncovering the grandeur of the original architecture.

Located in the heart of New Orleans’ Garden District, this lush inn can accommodate up to 24 guests in its nine bedrooms and 6.5 bathrooms. The restoration not only revitalizes an architectural gem but also integrates modern comforts, offering an unparalleled retreat that truly epitomizes where tech meets history.

Employing the latest in-house technology, we used LiDAR scanning, freeform digital modeling, and 3D printing to replicate architectural elements such as rosettes and medallions. The most profound application of this technology was the recreation of a quarter helical turn on the Napoleon’s hat wooden handrail for the level 2 banister as it curved around the landing—an intricate detail that showcases our commitment to preserving the craftsmanship of the past.

This project allowed CICADA to celebrate the entirety of the original layout, restoring the level floorplan and honoring the double parlors that are a hallmark of the building's design. The restoration of the front façade, alongside modern amenities and professionally designed open-concept spaces, makes the Greenhouse Bed & Breakfast a unique blend of historic charm and contemporary luxury. Guests can enjoy a heated pool, hot tub, putting green, BBQ grill, and outdoor TV in the backyard, with additional features like an indoor chef’s kitchen, balcony seating, and high-speed internet.
