Info
An unassuming warehouse sits at the base of Tchoupitoulas, between the residential Garden District neighborhoods and the bustling warehouse district. This warehouse serves and one of the many storage and staging venues for Mardi Gras floats peppered throughout the city. Facing a problem truly unique to the city of New Orleans, the CICADA team was asked to 3D scan the warehouse and provide a 3D model that would assist the owners in space planning and float-relocation.
Due to roof damage from hurricane Ida, the owners of Mardi-Gras world needed to quickly relocate hundreds of hand-crafted Mardi Gras floats, as well as house a temporary shop and museum space to continue their operations. One of their warehouses was an ideal candidate, but no as-built drawings existed. CICADA laser scanned, and rapidly built a full scale and accurate digital twin in less than a week, allowing the owners to strategically relocate their resources and begin the planning phases for their temporary headquarters.
